Is ceramic coating worth it on a brand-new car?
Yes — a new car is actually the ideal time to apply ceramic coating. The factory paint is at its freshest with minimal contamination, giving the coating the best possible surface to bond to. Applying protection now means you’re preserving the finish before Gold Coast’s UV, salt air, and environmental fallout have any chance to degrade it. It’s far easier and cheaper to protect now than to correct and re-protect later.
Should I get the dealership ceramic coating instead?
We’d recommend against it. Dealership coatings are typically applied quickly with minimal preparation — often no decontamination, no machine polishing, and no controlled environment. They’re frequently outsourced and use generic consumer-grade products. Do new cars need paint correction before ceramic coating?
Most do, yes. By the time your new car reaches you it has been transported, stored at ports, washed multiple times, and handled during pre-delivery inspections — all of which can leave light surface marks and bonded contaminants. We always machine polish before applying any coating to ensure the surface is clean and defect-free. In some cases more extensive correction is needed, which we’ll identify during our paint inspection.
Can ceramic coating fix factory paint defects?
Ceramic coating itself won’t fix defects — it will lock them in permanently if applied over them. That’s why paint correction before coating is essential. During our pre-coating inspection we assess paint thickness and identify any factory defects, swirl marks, or contamination. We machine polish first to reduce visible defects to the best degree possible, then apply the coating over a properly prepared surface.
When is the best time to protect a new vehicle?
Ideally before or immediately after delivery — this gives the coating the cleanest possible surface to bond to. Within the first two weeks is still excellent timing. Even if a few months have passed, it’s still well worth protecting — we’ll just spend more time on decontamination and preparation first. The longer you wait, the more UV exposure and contamination builds up on unprotected paint.
Will ceramic coating help prevent swirl marks on my new car?
Ceramic coating helps reduce minor wash-induced marring by adding a harder, slicker surface layer that is more resistant to light abrasion than bare clear coat. It won’t make your car scratch-proof, but with proper washing technique it significantly reduces the swirl marks that build up over time on unprotected paint. For maximum scratch protection, paint protection film (PPF) can be combined with ceramic coating.
